Certified Respiratory Education



Have you been diagnosed with Asthma, or COPD?

COPD stands for chronic obstructive pulmonary disease and the term includes conditions such as chronic bronchitis or emphysema.

Would you like more information about your respiratory condition and what you can do to have the best possible day to day control of your breathing? Ask your physician to refer you to one of our small group education classes.

We offer an evening session, lead by a Certified Respiratory Educator/Respiratory Therapist, for individuals living with asthma, as well as, a separate session for people living with COPD.

These sessions will be for a maximum of four to six people. They are intended for the individuals living with asthma or COPD. Family or support people are welcome to attend.

The general information covered during the sessions will be:
  • How the respiratory condition affects an individuals lungs.
  • Understanding how your respiratory medications work.
  • How to use your puffers or inhalers properly.
  • Breathing techniques to use when short of breath.
  • Strategies to minimize triggers/irritants or sensitivities that bother your breathing.
  • Assisting to develop a personal action plan based on your physician's prescriptions.
  • Other topics based on participants questions
